Did you know…
…that a standard 8.5 x 11 tri-fold brochure isn’t divided equally? It can’t be. The panel that folds into the brochure on the final fold must be shorter than the other panels. That means you can’t always design your brochure in three equal sections or columns. In lots of cases this might not matter, but if there is artwork that must align with the folds in the brochure then this needs to be accounted for in the design process.
Here are a couple of PDFs that might make this easier for lots of folks:

Most printers will have dies on hand for pocket folders that work most efficiently for their particular equipment. This template will work for most designs, but some printers prefer to have the glue tabs on the body of the folder based on the finishing and/or diecutting equipment they’re using. There may also be times when a larger or smaller pocket, or slits for business cards is desired. Please, always check with your printer—they may have a file that they’ve created specifically for their equipment.
